My family has a tradition that prevents us from celebrating birthdays in public venues like restaurants. I don’t know when or why we started it, but it’s been going on for years. Seeing as how I hit 40 this week, I thought I’d give you a behind-the-scenes peek at Score family birthday shenanigans!

The kids pretend they hate the tradition, but their cute little voices really add a new level of horrificness to the song. P.S. That’s Mr. Lucy behind the paper plate 😂

Happy 40th birthday-on-a-beach, Miss Lucy! I’m celebrating my 60th birthday-on-a-beach in two weeks; Maryland mud birthdays have gotten old.
I’m a newish reader of yours and much appreciate the humor in your stories. The free Christmas story was a wonderful present to share! I read it aloud to my hubs, snuggled next to the tree Christmas night. We’re learning to empty-nest Christmas and this could be a great new tradition.
    Happy beaching!

I decided that since Lucy turned forty, I would take a stroll through Blue Moon Bend and refresh my memory of the Pierces.
Starting with the boys and then moving on to “Where it All Began.”
I absolutely love this family and have been highlighting and dissecting this town and it’s unique people like crazy..
I have laughed and cried soo much my stomach hurts and I’m counting that as a workout.
Thank you Lucy, for this beautiful family. I had forgotten quite a bit about them over the years, but they’ve always had a piece of my heart.
